Double weaving is like the name suggests, a woven fabric that has two sides, both showing the same pattern but with the different allocation of the weft thread. Where the weft thread is dominant on the top side, it will be warp dominated on the wrong side. The fabric is often thick and both sides can be used, it is sturdy and good for items such as pillowcases and upholstery. Double weaving can also be strengthened by doubling either thread count, the warp or the weft. If double weaving is strengthened by doubling the warp, two types of threads are used for the warp on one type for the weft, and opposite if it is strengthened with the weft thread. When the binding is strengthened with the warp, one warp is seen on the front and the other on the backside of the fabric.
