Satin weave creates a soft and shiny drape and has a softer touch than most other fabrics because the warp threads float over a single weft thread and is characterized
by four or more fill threads passing over multiple warp threads before interlacing under one warp thread. Each weft thread lays over many warp threads resulting in a strong material. It is not possible to weave a satin weave on less than five shafts - five harness loom. Fabrics created from satin weaves usually have a good drape and better draping characteristics than plain weaves, allowing them to be formed around curves.
