Rose path weaving is a pointed twill broken by a thread at the turning point, it can be woven on 3-8 shafts, but the advantages of having more than three shafts are that you have more possibilities to play around with the pattern. Rose path can be woven with or without plain weave where the plain weave is alternating between the rose path rows, however it is advisable to use plain weave for background because it keeps the fabric stable. One variation of rose path is bound-weave or krokbragd.
